Biography: Leopoldine Harriet Prochaska was born on 24 September 1818 in Austria (what is now the Czech Republic), the daughter of Leopold Gersch and Theresia Pauline (née Ott). Her father died while she was young. In 1826, her mother married the politician Henry Villiers-Stuart (later Baron Stuart de Decies), but the marriage was never legally confirmed and their son Henry Windsor Villiers-Stuart (d. 1895) was unable to inherit his father's title. She spent her childhood in London and traveled widely. In 1842, Leopoldine married Baron Ottokar Prochaska in Prague. Their daughter was the water colorist Pauline Prochazka (1842–1930). They spent most of their married life in Hungary. She died in 1889.
