Biography: Margracia Loudon was born around 1795 in Limerick, the daughter of William Ryves of Castle Ryves and his wife Frances Catherine (the author of a novel). In 1830, she married the physician Charles Loudon (d. 1844). She wrote four novels beginning with First Love (1830), but only two in the Victorian period: The Fortunes of Woman and Maternal Love (both 1849). In addition, she wrote several nonfictional works on political economy. She died on 30 July 1860 in Cheltenham.
