Author: John Berwick Harwood (1828–1899)

Biography: Novelist. Born in 1828 at The Rookery, St. Mary Cray, Kent (or 1829 in Madras, sources unclear), the son of Capt. John Harwood (d. 1829) of the E. I. C. and Olivia Halliday Crooke. In 1850, he married Emily Mary Worsop Trollope, the daughter of Bernard Trollope, in Ostend. Harwood died in 1899 in Chertsey, Surrey. See entry in Sutherland (though somewhat out of date).
