Author: John Berry Torr (1817–1878)
Biography: John Berry Torr was born in 1817 in Devon, the son of Rev. John Torr (1771–1835). He was a barrister-at-law, member of the Middle Temple, and a Queen's Counsel. He married Annie Dodds Swinburne (d. 1894), the daughter of Capt. James Swinburne. He wrote a single novel, The Uncle's Legacy (1849), amid his legal duties. He died in 1878 in London.
