Author: Maria Ford Grahe

Author: Maria Ford Grahe (1840–1866)

Alternate Name(s): Ellen M. Wilson (pseudonym?)

Biography: Maria Ford Grahe was born in 1840 in Faversham, the daughter of Richard Foote and his wife Elizabeth. In 1864, she married the German merchant Carl August Gustave Grahe in London and the couple had one surviving child. She died on 18 December 1866 in Deptford. Prior to her death, she wrote a single novel Lady Choughton which she arranged to have dedicated to Lord Shaftsbury. Presumably, her death put off publication. Almost two decades later, the family arranged to have the novel published in 1885, edited by Ellen M. Wilson (who cannot be traced).
