Biography: Marianne Talbot was born on 10 April 1788 in Walcot, Somerset, the eldest daughter of Sir George Talbot and his wife Anna (née Preston). She and her sister Georgina enjoyed a childhood of wealth and comfort, spending many years abroad. Talbot wrote the single book, Past, Present, and Future (1850), anonymously. Her journal of her years in Naples has been published in our time. On the death of her father, the sisters inherited a large fortune, much of which they used to support the poor in Hinton Woodhouse near Bournemouth. She died on 3 November 1885 in London.
