Biography: Frank Everitt Emson was born in 1851 in Saffron Walden, the son of wholesale grocer John Green Emson and his wife Susan. He went to work with his father and spent his free time pursuing literature. In particular, he adapted many fictional works for the stage as well as putting on several amateur productions. He only wrote two works of fiction, Our Town (1886) and Slowborough (1887), both satires of his home town. In 1886, he married Marguerite Bowker. He went on to be the alderman of his town and well-known local cricketer. He died in 1933 in Littlehampton, Sussex.
