Author: Annie Victoria Dutton (1859–1933)

Biography: Annie Victoria Dutton was born around 1859 in Newcastle under Lyme, Staffordshire, the daughter of solicitor William Dutton and his wife Victoria. Her father took an ardent interest in local education, an interest he passed on to his daughter. Like her father, she was elected to the Newcastle School Board in 1891. In the meantime, Dutton turned to fiction, producing several novels over the next decades. After the death of her father, she and her mother moved to Devon. In the twentieth century, Dutton worked for women's suffrage. She never married and died on 20 June 1933 in Somerdon.
