Biography: Sarah Constance Isabella Briggs was born on 23 January 1838 in Edinburgh, Scotland or Mannheim, Germany, the daughter of James Rocheid and his wife Sarah Catherine Patterson. Through her father she is connected to the Kinloch family. In 1860, she married army officer David Briggs as his second wife. The couple did not have any children. Her husband served in India so they may have spent time there. After her marriage, Briggs wrote two novels, both published anonymously. She would go on to published poetry in periodicals. David Briggs died in 1908 and Sarah died in 1918 in Kensington. Note: her baptism record records her birthplace as Edinburgh; subsequent records including censuses record Mannheim, Germany. This author was identified through the Smith, Elder account books.
