Biography: Catherine Mary Stirling was born in 1818, the only child of the Rev. John Wellings and his wife Mary (née Wedderburn). In 1839, she married John Stirling of Kippendavie, Scotland. The couple had several children including novelist Mary Catherine Stirling (later Kellie-McCallum). Late in life, she wrote a fairy tale Prince Arthur (1861). She died in 1878.
