Alternate Name(s): Elizabeth Jane Connor (maiden name)

Biography: Elizabeth J. Lysaght was born around 1833 near Cork, the daughter of landowner Daniel Connor of Manch House and his wife Elizabeth (née Longfield). In February 1857, she married William Lysaght. The couple moved to Limerick and had six children. In the 1870s, Lysaght began writing novels beginning with Nearer and Dearer (1873). Her husband died in April 1887 and sadly her eldest son died a few months later in July. (William Connor Lysaght, a physician, died as the result of selflessly treating a patient for diphtheria.) Thereafter, Lysaght lived in Limerick, Wolverhampton, and Bristol. She died at the latter on 15 December 1894.
