Author: Peard Jillard (1845–1925)

Biography: Peard Jillard was born in 1845 in Wincanton, Somerset, the son of solicitor John Mace Jillard. He descended from an old west country family. He seems to have followed his father's profession, married, and lived as a country gentleman in Dorset. In the 1880s, he turned to writing beginning with a three-volume novel A Fearful Adversary (1880) and following with serial fiction in a local periodical, the Shepton Mallet Illustrated Magazine. He died on 21 June 1925 in Kingston-on-Thames.
