Author: Herbert Byng Hall (1805–1883)
Biography: Herbert Byng Hall was born in 1805, the son of clergyman Charles Henry Hall. He served in the army rising to the rank of captain before retiring. He turned to writing afterwards, especially travel and sporting books. In addition, he wrote two novels. Late in life, he worked as a diplomat. He died in 1883 in Bath.
