Biography: William Jones was born in 1847 in Braunston, the son of William Jones and his wife Emma. He worked alternately as an excise officer or an officer of the inland revenue. As such, he lived a peripatetic life, living for periods in Bristol, Southampton, Belfast, and various places in Scotland. In the 1890s, he began a moderately successful writing career using the pen name "W. Braunston Jones" beginning with Mithazan (1891). In 1868, he married Florence Mary Lavinia Harris and the couple had a least one daughter. He died on 20 April 1922 in Woodford, Essex a month after his wife's death.
