Author: William Shergold Browning (1797–1874)

Biography: William Shergold Browning was born in 1797, the third son of Robert Browning (the poet's grandfather). He gained a position in Messrs. Rothschild and worked in the Paris office from 1824 to 1845. Meanwhile, he wrote The History of the Huguenot during the Sixteenth Century (1829) and two historical novels: The Provost of Paris: A Tale of the Court of Charles VI (1833) and Hoel Morvan: or, The Court and Camp of Henry V (1844). He died in 1874.
