Biography: Rosamond Hervey was born in 1838 in Manchester, the daughter of prosperous merchant Robert Hervey and his wife Jane Hamilton. According to her later obituary, she was a woman of "considerable literary talent" with a good knowledge of German literature. As a journalist she served on the staff of The Star and wrote fiction, poetry, and drama. In 1889, she married army officer Henry Bathurst Hanna (himself an author on military subjects) and the couple lived in Petersfield. Both husband and wife were active in Liberal politics and were supporters of women's suffrage. She died after a long illness on 16 March 1930 in Petersfield.
