Biography: Laura Mary Denniston was born in 1847 in Streatham, Surrey, the daughter of Thomas Davies. In 1870, she married the civil servant James Lawson Denniston in Allahabad. By 1891, the couple and their children lived in England. Under the pseudonym "Cecil Maxwell," Denniston wrote the single novel, A Story of Three Sisters (1874). She died in 1928 in Headington.
