Author: Thomas St. Edmund Hake (1845–1917)

Biography: Thomas St. Edmund Hake was born on 16 April 1845 in Bury St. Edmund, the son of physician and poet Thomas Gordon Hake. His brother was the novelist Alfred Egmont Hake. As a young man, the family moved to Putney where Hake worked as a clerk in a merchant's office. However, he quickly left business to devote himself to literature as a journalist and novelist. In 1894, he married Annie Moors and the couple had three children. Late in life he worked as a private secretary according to the census. Hake died on 30 march 1917 in Putney.
