Author: Edward Robert Gotto (1851–1935)
Alternate Name(s): George Lambert (pseudonym)
Biography: Edward Robert Gotto was born in 1851 in Brentford, the son of civil engineer Edward Gotto and his wife Sarah Ann Porter. He was ordained and served as the rector of Bridford and then the vicar of Braunton, both in Devon. While serving, he wrote three moderately successful novels under the pseudonym "George Lambert": The Power of Gold (1886), the adventure novel The President of Boravia (1899), and the serial St. Philip's-on-the-Sea for Belgravia. A local newspaper noted his authorship of the second title, a fact not widely circulated it seems. In 1916, he retired to Exmouth. He married Mary Christian Thornton but the union was childless. He died on 13 March 1935 in Exmouth. His numerous obitiuaries failed to note his novels.
