Biography: Hannah Louisa Bedford was born on 26 December 1847 in Whittlesey, Cambridgeshire, the youngest daugher of clergyman Thomas Bedford and his wife Sophia. Her father was the long-time rector of Elstree. She never married and lived with her parents until their deaths. Well into middle age, she began writing fiction for young adult readers published by R.T.S. and S.P.C.K. at a rapid pace. She spent the last forty years of her life in Radlett where she died on 29 July 1942. Notably, she left an estate of over £14,000.
