Biography: Beryl Mary Elizabeth Goldie-Taubman was born on 22 July 1873 in London, the daugher of Francis Goldie-Taubman. From her earliest days, she wanted to be a writer, even writing in the Gentlewoman that she had "great ambition that way" after winning a sewing prize in 1891. Her first novel, The Leaven of Love, appeared in 1900. The following year, she married army officer Adolph Symons. In the twentieth century, she wrote a few historical novels before World War I and several thrillers afterward. She died on 30 June 1958 in London.
