Biography: Michael Andrews Morrison was born around 1854 possibly in Ireland, the son of surveyor Matthew Morrison. He lived for a time in Odessa as a business agent. In 1879 in Odessa, he married Jane Swan and the couple had at least one daughter. The family later moved to Berlin where Morrison served as the long-time resident correspondent for the Daily Chronicle. He also used his travels to produce fiction, some of which he published under the pseudonym "Oliver M. Norris." Shortly before the First World War, he returned to England, continuing to contribute to the newspaper. He died on 20 August 1923 in Bridport, Dorsetshire.
