Biography: Frederick Ernest Green was born on 16 October 1867 in Hong Kong, the son of Thomas Green and his wife Jane (née Stuart). He worked for many years in business in London before abandoning his career to become a farmer in Surrey. He wrote several books on farming and the Surrey countryside. Green then went on to write a few novels, the first being The Crowning of Gloria (1900) under the pseudonym "Richard Reardon." He married twice: first to Gertrude Beane then after her death to her sister Constance. He died on 20 January 1922 at home in Newdigate.
