Biography: Henry George Harper was born on 16 July 1851 in Wybunbury, cheshire, the son of Henry Harper and his wife Ann (née Piggott). He became a noted sports journalist, especially horse racing. From that, he made a transition to writing sporting-themed fiction. He married Miriam Josephine Timms and the couple had three children. Notably, he lived in Epsom. He died there on 7 May 1942.
