Author: Horace Earle (1831–1919)

Biography: Horace Earle was born in 1831 in London. He attended Highbury College before moving to Singapore where he worked as a teacher. He later joined the gold rush in Victoria, Australia. Eventually, he settled in Brisbane where he worked as an accountant and journalist. He wrote a collection of stories Ups and Downs: or, Incidents of Australian Life (1861) based on his experiences. He died in 1919 in Brisbane.
