Author: Sara Wood (1806–1889)

Biography: Sara Wood was born about 1806 in Hackney. She came from a family "long resident in the north of London" who professed Unitarianism. In middle age, she began a long career writing books for juvenile readers including fiction and nonfiction. She never married and outlived most of her family continuing to live in north London. She died after a long illness on 25 August 1889 in Putney.
