Biography: Marie Sibree was born in 1839 in Hull, the daughter of congregational minister James Sibree and his wife Martha Aston. She worked as a governess and began writing fiction before marrying Wesleyan minister Walter Greasley Hall in 1869. The couple lived in Cornwall and Yorkshire and had several children. She died on 2 May 1885 in Bradford shortley after giving birth to a daughter. Note: the entry in Boase erroneously attributes the novels to a woman of the same maiden name (a Mrs. John Cash).
