Biography: Margaret Butlin was born in 1842 in St. Erth, Cornwall, the daughter of clergyman John Punnett. As a young woman, she wrote the anonymous novel Helen's Trouble (1869). In 1869, she married clergyman James Thomas Butlin, the vicar of St. Lawrence Aston near Birmingham. The couple had several children. When her husband retired, they moved to Dawlish. She died there in 1926.
