Author: Mary Ann Dyson (1809–1878)
Biography: Mary Ann Dyson was born in 1809 in London, the daughter of the clerk of the House of Commons Jeremiah Dyson and his second wife. She lived much of her life with her brother Charles Dyson who was the rector of Church Crookham. Dyson inherited a moderate fortune and spent half of it supporting her brother's church and starting a school. In addition, she published several works anonymously. She never married and died on 29 September 1878 in Church Crookham.
