Author: Fanny Lonsdale (1829–1911)
Biography: Fanny Lonsdale was born on 28 May 1829 in London, the daughter of clerk William Lonsdale and his wife Eliza (née Ffitch). Lonsdale was one of several daughters who all went into education: in particular, her elder sister was the principal of a ladies school and they all worked there for a time. In addition to teaching, she wrote two novels and a collection of poetry. Her later decades were spent in Kent. She never married, lived with one or more sisters her whole life, and died on 12 June 1911 in Sidcup.
