Biography: Henry Boyle Lee was born on 12 January 1809 in Hampshire, the fourth son of Robert Newton Lee. He attended Westminster School and studied medicine at St. Bartholomew's Hospital, becoming a surgeon in 1833. In 1844, he married Anne Emilia Debary and the couple had several children including the future authors Mary Susanna Lee and Catherine Harriet Lee. Lee himself was an author of a biography of Napoleon and the novel Kennaquhair (1872) under the pseudonym "Theophilus McCrib." He died on 19 March 1896 in West Peckham.
