Author: Ewan Hugh Maclachlan (1819–1884)

Biography: Ewan Hugh Maclachlan was born in 1819 in Hackney, the son of merchant Patrick Maclachlan. He attended Pembroke College, Oxford where he earned an M.A. Ordained into the Church of England, he was the curate of Tudeley then the vicar of Monkton. In addition to his clerical duties, he found time to write two novels. He never married and died on 7 February 1884 in Woodford, Essex.
