Author: Catherine Mary MacSorley (1848–1929)
Biography: Catherine Mary MacSorey was born on 5 October 1848 in Dublin, the daughter of clergyman John James MacSorley and his wife Catherine. She never married and lived most of her life with her parents or her sister Mary Gertrude. At a young age, she began writing fiction aimed at young adult readers beginning with May Lane (1871). MacSorley went on to have a successful career with writing. She died on 26 January 1929 in Dublin.
