Author: Charles Philip Austin Oman (1825–1876)
Biography: Charles Philip Austin Oman was born on 20 June 1825 in Jessore, India, the son of Charles Oman. He attended Edinburgh Academy before returning to India to grow indigo. In 1858, he married Ann Chadwick and the couple had one son. After another brief period in India, the family settled in Hampstead. Based on his experiences in India, he wrote a novel Eastwards (1864). Seemingly, he never wrote another. Oman died on 18 February 1876 in Winchester.
