Author: Alan James Gulston (1813–1886)
Biography: Alan James Gulston was born on 25 December 1813 in Englefield Green, Surrey. He was a long-time resident of Carmarthenshire, Wales where he served as J. P. and deputy-lieutenant of the county. He was the brother of novelist Josepha Heath Gulston and father of the poet Alan Stepney Gulston (1844–1919). Relatively late in life, he wrote the novel Warren Knowles (1885). He died the following year on 8 August 1886 in Guernsey.
