Author: Henry Colson (1824–1878)

Biography: Henry Colson was born on 12 October 1824 in Hackney, the son of clerk Richard Colson and his wife Catherine Drawbridge. He followed his father and became a clerk to a bookseller. On the side, he also wrote a few books beginning with Worth her Weight in Gold (1863). His second novel Without a Friend in the World (1866) had some success, going through four editions in a short time. Colson married and had two children. He died in 1878 in Lambeth.
