Author: Eustace Rogers Conder (1820–1892)
Biography: Eustace Rogers Conder was born on 5 April 1820 near St. Albans, the son of bookseller Josiah Conder. He attended Spring Hill College, the University of London (B.A. 1842, M.A. 1844), and later Edinburgh University (D.D. 1882). He entered the ministry and served parishes in Poole, Leeds, before serving as the chairman of the Congregational Union of England and Wales and the Yorkshire Congregational Union. Conder was a prolific author of religious works as well as one juvenile story collection Sleepy Forest (1872). He died on 5 July 1892 in Bournemouth.
