Author: Charles Courtenay (1849–1936)

Biography: Charles Courtenay was born on 3 September 1849 in Truro, the son of grocer and confectioner Matthew Courtenay. He attended Trinity College Dublin (B.A. 1889, M.A. 1892) before being ordained. He served as curate of St. Paul's, Onslow Square and later served as vicar of West Darby. In 1876, he married Ellen Louisa Aldred and the couple had four children. In addition to his clerical duties, he wrote several works of juvenile fiction for the R.T.S. He died on 26 December 1936 in Hastings.
