Author: Caroline Bouts Doggett (1818–1901)

Biography: Caroline Bouts Doggett was born on 9 July 1818 in Horslydown, the youngest child of hop farmer Frederick Doggett and his wife Ann Dawborne. Her older sister was author Phebe Dawborne Doggett. Doggett never married and lived the majority of her life with her parents and sister. In mid-life, she began a career writing juvenile fiction, sometimes assisted by her sister Phebe. She died on 26 February 1901 in Dorking, her long-time residence.
