Author: Beata Francis (1842–1899)
Biography: Beata Francis was born in 1842 in Sculcoates, the daugher of barrister Henry Ralph Francis. She never married and lived with family her whole life. In her thirties, she began writing writing fiction, mostly aimed at young adult readers. Francis lived in various parts of England and died on 9 December 1899 in London.
