Author: Louisa Penelope Mohun Harris (1830–1920)
Biography: Louisa Penelope Mohun Harris was born in 1830 at Hayne, Stowford, the daughter of landowner Christopher Arthur Mohun Harris of Haynes and Cross House. ("Mohun" was added to the family name in 1874.) By any measure, she and her siblings enjoyed a privileged childhood. In middle age, Harris wrote a short novel What the Swallows Told Me (1879), contributed to periodicals including London Society and New Monthly Magazine, and composed music for several songs. She never married and lived alone in Windsor before joining her sisters at the family estate Cross House near Bishopsteighnton. She died there on 4 July 1920.
