Author: Thomas Cobbe (1813–1882)

Biography: Thomas Cobbe was born on 8 December 1813 in Dublin, the son of Charles Cobbe of Newbridge (died 1857). He was a descendent of Thomas Cobbe, the Archbishop of Dublin, and the brother of social reformer Frances Power Cobbe. He attended Charterhouse and Oxford before being called to the bar. In 1854, he married Janet Finlay Grahame and the couple had four children. He wrote two books, the anonymously-published historical novel The Noble Traytour (1857) and the History of the Norman Kings of England (1869). He died on 13 May 1882 near Brighton.
