Biography: Bridget Kavanagh was born in Ireland and she married author Morgan Peter Kavanagh. Their only child was the author Julia Kavanagh. The family lived in France before Kavanagh and her daughter moved alone to London in 1844 where Julia threw herself into her literary career. A lifelong invalid, she depended on her daughter to support her. In the 1860s, mother and daughter returned to France, living in Paris then Nice. While there, Kavanagh wrote jointly with her daughter a collection of fairy tales. After her daughter's death in 1877, she continued to live in Nice, now almost entirely blind. She died ten years later in 1887 or 1888.
