Biography: Elizabeth Lee was born in 1830 in Liverpool, the daughter of music seller William James Reade and his wife Mary. In 1859, she married ship broker William Julius Lee and the couple had several daughters. During her marriage, she wrote two novels and contributed to the Liverpool press under the pseudonym "Sator." In 1887, she was left a widow without means and her brother Thomas Mellard Reade supported her until her death. After a long, painful decline, she died on 31 March 1904 in Chesterfield.
