Biography: Jessie Patrick Findlay was born on 5 March 1857 in Scoonie, Scotland, the daughter of photographer John Patrick. From girlhood, she took a keen interest in literature, producing a collection of poems (privately printed) as well as three novels. She married schoolmaster Matthew Findlay and the couple had two sons. After the death of her husband and youngest son, she lived her last twenty years with her remaining son in Kennoway. In later years, she wrote a book on Scottish song writers and one of Robert Burns. She died on 11 June 1933 in Kennoway.
