Author: Mrs. Graham Branscombe (1841–1914)

Alternate Name(s): Sarah Anne Cother Rider (maiden name); Barron (2nd married name); Cragg (3rd married name)

Biography: Sarah Anne Cother Branscombe was born in 1841, the youngest daughter of William Rider. In 1861, she married John Graham Branscombe, the deputy assistant superintendent of stores. The couple had two sons before her husband died in 1867 in Barbados. As a widow, she wrote the single novel Edith Vavasour (1876), however the dismissive Athenaeum review likely ended her efforts. She subsequently married civil engineer Frederick Cadogan Barron (1843–1904) in 1877 and retired army officer Wallace William Cragg in 1908. With her second husband, she lived briefly in Spain and had two more children. She died in 1914 in Portsmouth.
