Biography: Margaret Cecilia Helmore was born in 1849 in London, the daughter of clergyman and schoolmaster Thomas Helmore and his wife Katherine (née Pridham). She was the cousin of novelist Christabel R. Coleridge. In her twenties, she wrote two novels, but neither made much of a mark. Helmore lived most of her life with one or more family members. In the 1890s, she worked for the publisher Ward, Lock. She never married and died 10 March 1924 in London.
