Author: Robert Potter (1831–1908)

Biography: Robert Potter was born on 18 October 1831 in Louisburgh, Co. Mayo, the son of clergyman Robert Potter and his wife Maria (née Trench). He was educated at Trinity College Dublin and was ordained in the Church of England. In 1858, he moved to Australia where he held several posts ending with canon of St. Paul's Cathedral in Melbourne. He married Rebecca Cochane in 1859 and the couple had six children. In addition to religious works and poetry, he wrote the science fiction novel The Germ Growers (1892). He died on 13 July 1908 in South Yarra.
