Author: Frederick Scarlett Potter (1834–1915)
Biography: Frederick Scarlett Potter was born on 5 July 1834 in Lark Stoke, the son of farmer William Potter and his wife Elizabeth. He attended Campden Grammar School before studying at the Birmingham School of Design. Potter became an award-winning sculptor. However, in the 1860s, health problems forced him to retire to the country where he turned to literature as a profession. As an author, Potter wrote history, poetry, and juvenile fiction. He never married and lived with his elder sister in Halford. He died there on 21 November 1915.
